Evolusi Makna Leksikal dalam Bahasa Arab Kontemporer: Kajian Semantik dan Faktor Penyebabnya

Abstract

This study investigates the semantic shifts and lexical development of selected Arabic vocabulary used in contemporary contexts. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach and lexical semantic analysis, data were collected from various modern textual sources, including news articles, academic writings, and digital content. Words that indicated semantic change were examined using referential and distributional analysis to identify their contextual relationships and to determine the factors contributing to their evolution. The findings reveal that semantic changes in Arabic are closely influenced by social dynamics, technological advancements, and the expanding domains of modern communication. Several lexical items exhibit meaning extension, narrowing, or adjustment according to the needs of current language users. These results highlight the dynamic nature of language and its constant adaptation to societal changes. This study is expected to contribute to semantic research, particularly in understanding contemporary developments in Arabic lexical meaning.
